Jean Carol Reynolds Gray was born to her loving parents, the late John Vernon Reynolds and Clara Jean Reynolds (Diggs) of Paris, TN on September 15, 1951.
Jean graduated from Grove High School in Paris, TN in 1969. After graduating from high school, Jean attended college at Tennessee State University where she majored in speech-language pathology. She completed her bachelor’s degree from Barry University in Miami, FL in 2000 and pursued a career in education. She loved to explore new cities and spent time on both coasts. Her children were the loves of her life and her greatest pride – a daughter, Ieisha (1973), and a son, Ryan (1994).
Jean – affectionately dubbed “Baby Sister” – was beloved by everyone she met, and was known for her warmth, exuberance, and perpetual sense of humor. She was an avid reader and lover of music, and her keen intellectual curiosity could find her conversing on any number of topics: from world history to pop culture. Jean and her big sister Ellie were extremely close and were never far from one another throughout their lives. After almost two decades in Miami, Florida, the family returned to Paris, their hometown, permanently in October 2014.
Jean is survived by her sister, Ellie (“Elroy”), Ieisha, Ryan, and many cousins.
