Mr. Jettie Tharpe , 88, of Paris died Friday, June 9, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Sparks Street Church of Christ with Ed Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.He was born March 18, 1929, in Henry County to the late Tom and Viola Tharpe. He was married on March 2, 1964, to NamSon Tharpe, who survives.He was a member of Sparks Street Church of Christ and later Hollow Rock Church of Christ and was a retired command sergeant major in the U.S. Army. Survivors include three children: Catherine (Gary) Foster of Paris and Johnny Tharpe and Mary (Eric) Atkinson, both of Nashville; three grandchildren: Cameron Foster and Ciarra and Alexis Allen; and a great-grandson: Kaedyn Thompson. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers: Claude Teague and Anderson, Terry, Sullivan and Hurron Tharpe; and three sisters: Roxie Mae Tharpe and Roberta and Lillie Ida Teague.     Rawls Funeral Home – Paris 731-642-1515
