Joe Neeley Carr

Mr. Joe Neeley Carr, 70, of Woodland Mills died Thursday, December 29, 2011, at his residence. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Anointed Church of The Living God with Rev. James Jones officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. He was born on September 5, 1941, in Obion County to Jesse and Essie Carr, who preceded him in death. He was the eldest of seven children. He accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of fifteen. He joined Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his death. He was united in marriage to Betty Jean King on November 16, 1963. To their union, five children were born. His wife preceded him in death. He worked as a farmer, a butcher at Brown’s Meat Packing Company and at Reelfoot Packing Company, and he later retired from Lattus Distributing Company. He leaves to cherish his memory, five children Joseph Carr of Chicago IL, Gary Carr of Union City, TN, Terrian Carr Brann (Chris) of Woodland Mills, TN, Kevin Carr of Ventura, CA, and Melanie Moody (Elgin) of Memphis, TN; ten grandchildren, Crystal and Brittany Carr of Jackson, TN, Morgan and Meghan Moody of Memphis TN, Camisha, Ashley Marie, Mianika, and Kevin, Jr of Taft CA, Ashley and Destiny Carr of Union City, TN and Brandon Carr of Chicago, IL; one great-grand daughter, Bri’Kenna Carr of Jackson, TN. He also leaves three brothers, Perry Carr (Cheryl) of Woodland Mills, TN, Michael Carr (Rachel) of Fulton, KY and Timothy Carr (Ruby) of Union City, TN; three sisters, Agnes Sue Huff (Willie D.) of Woodland Mills, TN, Barbara Bolden and LaRethia Motley both of Union City, TN; one aunt, Mary Haynes of St. Louis, Mo. The King and Vinson family, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will cherish his memory. Rawls Funeral Home – Union City 731-885-8110
