Mr. Joseph "Joe" Ingram, 90 of Union City died Friday, December 6, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at First United Pentecostal Church. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.
Mr. Joseph Ingram the son of Benjamin Harris Ingram and Queen Esther Slayton Ingram was born October 29, 1929, in Union City Tennessee.
He was employed at Reelfoot Packing of Union City TN, for over thirty years until retirement from the company. After retirement, he continued to work. Mr. Ingram cleaned churches and eventually began his lawn care business.
Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a very kind and giving man. Mr. Ingram loved watermelon and tomatoes. Mr. Joseph had a great passion for mowing lawns. He could be seen regularly riding his mower. He knew everything happening in Union City; his children lovingly nicknamed him the Union City Messenger.
He is widely known and respected. He will be greatly missed. Especially his smiling face and vivid imagination, which often came out in his stories.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Mr. Benjamin and Queen Esther Ingram, his brother’s Henry and James Ingram and sister’s Margaret Ethridge and Shirley Hampton.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Brenda K. Massey (Randolph Bates), Kathy K. (James) Andrews, and one son Joseph Massey, of Elkhart IN, five grandchildren; Todd E. Massey of Nashville TN, Brenda A. (Louis) Marsh, LaTosha R. (William) Bonds, Jennifer Andrews all of Elkhart IN and Kassandra (Marquise) Fuqua of Indianapolis IN, eleven greatgrandchildren, six great-great grandchildren with two on the way, two sister’s-in-law Mary Ingram of Fulton TN, and Brenda Ingram of Union City TN, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
