Mr. John Samuel Adkisson, 89, of McKenzie died Monday, September 26, 2016, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at The Obion River District Association Headquarters with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon at The Obion River District Association Headquarters.
John Samuel Adkisson was born on July 6, 1927 to the union of the late Bud and Jonnie Maul Adkisson of Trezevant, Tennessee.
John accepted Christ at an early age and united with Greater Enon Missionary Baptist Church in McKenzie, Tennessee. There he remained a faithful, dedicated member until his death. John was a deacon of the church.
John was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served his country for two years in Korea. He was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Adkisson in 1950.
John leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy Adkisson; two loving sons, Ivory and Victor (Anna); four loving grandchildren, Jason Adkisson (Amber), Justin Adkisson (Ashley), Jonathan Adkisson and Charisee Jones; seven great grandchildren, Julius Adkisson, Chloe Adkisson, Jeremiah Adkisson, Jordan Adkisson, Lily Adkisson, Quinton Jones and Trey Smith; a loving niece, Frankie Jones (Grady); a loving nephew, Pastor Richard Adkisson (Linda); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
