Mr. Junior Tharpe, 85, of Paris
died Friday, October 18, 2013, at Plumley
Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013,
at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ivy Jamison officiating. Interment will
follow in Greenwood
Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the funeral
home.Junior
Tharpe was born in Benton County,
Tennessee to his parents, Jim and
Nellie Boyd Tharpe, on December 19, 1927. Junior left this earth on Friday, October
18, 2013, at Plumley
Rehab Center.
He
married Ruby Inez Porter on December 5, 1946. They were faithfully devoted to
each other until her departure on April 28, 2013.All
that knew Junior knew he was blessed to be a blessing to not only his children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren but to everyone he was involved with
throughout his journey called life.
Our
father was a good man, loved the Lord, loved to sang God’s hymns. Kind, loving,
full of joy and loved to be around people. He loved his children and family.He
was a faithful member and deacon of Spring
Creek Baptist
Church. He loved working
in his garden and he loved sitting on the porch and talking to people all day
and night.He
was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, a daughter and eleven
siblings.Left
to cherish his memory are six children, Verna (Sharon) Tharpe of Nashville,
Tennessee and John Tharpe, Larry Tharpe, Carlene (Thomas) Shields, Margaret Freeman
and Linda Tharpe, all of Paris, Tennessee; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren;
one great-great grandchild; one brother, John (Hazel) Tharpe of Paris,
Tennessee; one sister-in-law, Mary L. Teague of Chicago, Illinois and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
