Mr. LaMar Randolph Bartlett, 64, of Murfreesboro died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Saint Thomas Rutherford.

LaMar was born on May 12, 1962, in Gloucester, Virginia, to Cecelia and Theodore Bartlett. He attended Middle Tennessee State University, where he met the love of his life, Jacqueline Reese Bartlett. While at MTSU, LaMar was initiated into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in the Fall of 1981 through the Iota Mu Chapter. His commitment to the fraternity extended far beyond his college years; he was a charter member who worked tirelessly to establish a lasting legacy of brotherhood, scholarship, and community service.

Following his graduation, LaMar served his country with distinction, concluding his military career as a Major of the United States Army. During his tours of duty, LaMar and his family traveled the world together.

Upon retiring from the military, LaMar treasured the opportunity to spend quality time with his family before transitioning into civilian careers. He excelled in education and sales, working as a manager for Randstad Staffing Agency in Dyersburg, Tennessee, and St. Louis, Missouri. He eventually rose to become the Director of Human Resources for the Lauderdale County School System, a role he held until his final retirement.

LaMar was a vibrant individual who loved all things sports, most especially his beloved New York Football Giants. A passionate fan, he was overjoyed to attend both Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI to witness his Giants become World Champions. He also found immense joy in fishing, crabbing, playing the saxophone, keeping up with the latest fashions, and, above all, spending cherished time with his grandchildren.

LaMar is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Reese Bartlett; his three devoted children, Brandon Bartlett of Union City, TN, Cigi (David) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kayla Wainwright (Zachary) of Murfreesboro, TN; his four cherished grandchildren, Dajah, Jaylen, Madison, and Kynleigh; and his brother, Orlando Bartlett of Dyersburg, TN. He also leaves behind his beloved bonus daughter, Joneisha Warren, and four bonus grandchildren whom he loved dearly. In addition, he is survived by a host of loving relatives, in-laws, fraternity brothers, military comrades, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecelia and Theodore Bartlett.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Truth In Love Kingdom Fellowship, located at 2250 E Court St, Dyersburg, TN. A visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM.

Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery 7931 McCroy Lane, Nashville, TN 37221.
