Bishop LaRethia Motley of Union City TN., was born August 12, 1956, at Obion County General Hospital. On August 25th, 2025, the Lord called her soul to rest at the Waters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her Pastor and Sister Apostle Barbara Bolden at her bedside. She was 69 years old. She was a member of Anointed Church Of The Living God, Inc., where she served as Co-Pastor.
Bishop LaRethia Motley is survived by her children, Chantell L. Bolden, Murfreesboro TN., and John (Stephanie) Motley, Union City TN. Four Grandchildren, Jaylon (Megan) Ellis, Antasia Bolden, Santarreya Estes, Shemarion Motley. Three Great Grandchildren, Aubree, Nora, and Jay'mere. One Brother, Bishop Timothy Carr, Union City, TN. Three Sisters, Elder Agnes Sue (Willie) Huff, Woodland Mills, TN., Apostle Barbara Bolden, Union City, TN.,Phyllis McPearson, Hickman KY., and Bishop Rachel Carr and Ruby Carr Bell whom she loved as Sisters, and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends.
Her Parents, Jesse "Wig" and Essie Mai (Whitsey) Carr, and brothers Joe Neeley Carr, Apostle Michael L. Carr Sr., and Perry J. Carr Sr., Preceded her in death.
Bishop Motley served the Anointed Church Of The Living God, District 1, faithfully as Usher, Choir President, adult Sunday School Teacher, and Kitchen Supervisor for meals and outreach.
One of her favorite scriptures was Psalms 23. One of her favorite sayings was "Let God Be God!"
The family said: "Amen."
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Anointed Church of The Living God. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Friday at the church
