Mr. Lee Thomas Harris, 72, formerly of Union City died Monday, November 4, 2024, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Services will be held at noon on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at McPhearson-Rawls Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lee Thomas Harris was born April 21, 1952, in Trenton, Tennessee to Nannie B. Roach. He departed this life on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
He was a standout athlete at Miles High School and Union City High School. He was one of the first students to integrate the Union City High School baseball, basketball and football teams. He was awarded a football scholarship to Tennessee State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He was a “Life Member” of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., having served as a member of the Mighty Rho Psi chapter at Tennessee State University and the Tau Pi graduate chapter in Columbia, Maryland. He received the 50-year service award (Spring 1972) in Spring of 2022.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie B. Roach ; three siblings Patricia Massey, Mitchell Harris and Coleen Barnett and his wife, Janice Dawson-Harris.
He leaves to cherish his memories, four children, Brian L. (Avatar) Harris, Teronni (Kito) Cody, Janna L. (Aaron) Hicks and George (Hannah) Dawson; one brother, Joseph Harris; five grandchildren, Brian L. Harris, Jr., Nia Morris, Zachary J. Harris, Jacob J. Harris and Jaxon Leigh Hicks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
