Leonard Ray Fitzgerald

Mr. Leonard Ray Fitzgerald, 62, of Paris died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Jackson – Madison County General Hospital. Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at noon at Sparks Street Church of Christ with Bro. Ed Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Leonard Ray Fitzgerald was born April 9, 1950, to Willie “Wag” and Henrietta Fitzgerald in Paris, Tennessee, both whom preceded him in death. Leonard confessed his faith in God at an early age and was baptized and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years. Later he became a member of Sparks Street Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Edward Howard. Leonard was very proud when he changed his life and dedicated himself to the church. He was faithful to Bible Study and his church family up until his death. He was very helpful to his friends and his community in times of need. Leonard was united in holy matrimony to Luverta Teague in 1970. To this union they were blessed with two grateful children, Derek and Keaby. He loved his wife and was a devoted father and grandfather. He was employed with Celotex and Golden Circle Life Insurance Company for many years. He later became the proprietor of Fitzgerald Rental Properties. He leaves to cherish and celebrate memories a loving wife, Luverta Fitzgerald; three thankful children, Derek, Keaby (Jermaine) Scott and Deana Boothe; loyal siblings, Billy Roy (Eileen) Fitzgerald, Barbara (Jimmy) Hines, Doris ”Tiny” Darcus, Johnnie (Jackie Perk) Perkins, Mary Fitzgerald, Martha (Will) Howard, Larry (Tiffany) Fitzgerald, Maurice “Reesie” (Denise) Fitzgerald and Gayle “Cookie” (Randle) Mayo; sisters-in-law, Mildred Porter, Lena Ruth Craven and Bobbie Edwards; brother-in-law, Master Lee (Imogene) Teague; four grandchildren, Jared, Nadia, Zion and Hannah; one great grandchild, Zailey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
