Lester “Henry” “Butch” Hampton, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville FL. He was 76 years old.
Lester Hampton was born in Chicago Illinois on June 16, 1946. He was the second child of Henry and Esther (Bennett) Hampton.
For over 40 years, Lester was employed with Goodyear. He began his career at the Jackson, Michigan location and relocated to the Union City location in 1983, where he worked until his retirement. He was a resident of Martin, TN for over 39 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Magdalene Hampton , his parents Henry and Esther Hampton, his sister Barbara Collins, Father-in-law, Grover Patterson, Mother-in-law Julian Patterson, Brothers-in-law, Nathanial Patterson, Herbert Patterson, Alva Patterson and Roy Patterson; Sisters-in-law, Patsy Lynn Patterson, Joe Ann Smith, Beverly Celestine and Tangel Patterson.
He is survived by his sons Brian Hampton, Christopher Hampton, Nicholas (Lea) Hampton and step-daughter Angela Lee; Brothers-in-law Ray Patterson, Randy (Roxanne) Patterson, Gregory (Regina) Patterson, Samuel Smith, Hodges Celestine; Sisters-in-law Geneva Brown, Dorothy Patterson, Florene Patterson, Ruby Patterson, Donna Hawkins; grandchildren, Maya Martinez, Danyell Browning, Deona Houston, Jaden Hampton, Jaeda Hampton, Leah Hampton, Vivian Hampton, Antonio Hampton, Chase Hampton, Vivian Hampton, Dameisha Hampton and Luciana Hampton; multiple great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Celebration of Life service Friday, January 13th beginning at 1:00pm at Fuller Street Baptist Church in Dresden.
