Linda Tharpe Bennett

Mrs. Linda Dianne Tharpe Bennett, 71, of Paris died, Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

A viewing will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born in Paris, Tennessee on September 3, 1949, to her late parents Robert L. and Sadie Haynes Tharpe.

She received her formal education at Central High School in Paris, Tennessee. She was a member of greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Murray, Kentucky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly Perkins; husbands: Richard Perkins, Jerry Bennett; and siblings: Marvin Burton, Joyce Phillips, Carol Tharpe Kennedy.

Those left to cherish fond and loving memories, her sons: Andre D. Perkins, Rykke Perkins of Paris, Tennessee; brothers: Robert (Patricia) Tharpe of Paris, Tennessee, Leonard (Stephanie) Tharpe of Gallatin, Tennessee, Jimmy Tharpe of Nashville, Tennessee, Ronnie (Shelia) Tharpe of Stanford, Virginia, Michael (Roberta) Tharpe of Clarksville, Tennessee; sisters: Carolyn Gladney of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Doris (Gardner) Morales and Teresa Tharpe, all of Paris, Tennessee, Sandra (Carl) Pearson of Radcliff, Kentucky, Lela Teague of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Jasmine (Dallas) Emerson, Denise Perkins, Dominique Hixon, Michael Ellison, Darius Ellison, R Tano Perkins, Alivia Conway, Sheandrea Perkins, Keandre Perkins, Andrea Perkins, Kimberly Perkins, and Mila Perkins; great grandchildren: Ava Emerson, Kimyah Emerson, Kyzer Perkins, Kendall Johnson, Asia Emerson and Makell Emerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Linda was humble, outgoing and caring. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. Evidence of her kindness were the many deeds she did to assist her family, friends and neighbors. She was very outspoken, direct, unselfish, strict but fair, and a wise woman. She will be surely missed.
