Ms. Linda Davis, 79, of Martin died Monday, March 16, 2026, at her home.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Linda Sue was born on May 19, 1946, to Katherine and Hurley Davis in Martin, TN. To this union five children were born. The Lord called her home while peacefully resting in her bed. Matthew 24:36. This unpredictably is a divine call to maintain constant readiness. Life will seem to be continuing as normal before the end comes suddenly. Jesus wants us to compare it to a thief in the night. He will arrive at an unexpected hour. Believers are called to remain vigilant and ready. Linda was ready.

Linda accepted Christ, as her personal Savior, at an early age. She attended McCabe Temple United Church where she was a dedicated usher and communion stewardess until her health started to decline under the leadership of Pastor Orrin Cowley, Jr. who visited and prayed for her until his death which hurt her deeply.

She received her education at Weakley County Training School in Martin, TN where she was an awesome basketball player and singer. Later she had a passion for being a cosmetologist and opened her own beauty supply store and salon. She also worked diligently as a poll worker at the Election Commission. Linda was united in matrimony to Shelley B. Evans (Whistle Pete) and to this union one son was born, Jefferey Lee Davis, Sr. whom she loved unconditionally.

Linda loved watching game shows and the Golden State Warriors, especially Steph Curry. She and her sister, Shirley, were always in competition during the game. She also enjoyed canning, sewing, flowers, speaking Spanish fluently, playing cards, "double bubble", and Lee's donuts. She had patience when she set out to do whatever she wanted, especially when she literally made a 30-day friendship cake and wine from her grapevine.

Linda will be greatly missed by her seven loving grandchildren, Jeffery Lee, Jr., Memphis, TN, Luckey Lee (Kechia), Christian Lee, Alexander Lee, Bridgette (Gant) Arnold, Johnqua Arnold and Justin Arnold, Martin, TN. They all were there for their "Granny". Great- grandchildren, Azaria, Darian, Jeffery Lee, III and Raelee whom she loved dearly. She also leaves to cherish her memories, an extended family from her four siblings. A niece "daughter" Shirlyn Jewell Davis, Southfield, Ml, cousins, Kathy Douglass, St. Louis, MO, "brother" William Kelly (Mabel) and son Geraud, sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Davis, brother-n-law Gene Jones, Martin, TN. Dear friends Bertha Jones Taylor, Trezevant, TN, Barbara Polk of Nashville, TN and James Arthur, Royster. LA, Edwin Crockett, Paducah, KY, Sam Crutchfield and Arie D. "Lil Sis,” Martin, TN. Also, a loyal, dedicated dependable caregiver, Carolyn Arnold, "daughter-n law,” a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and Hurley Davis, her son Jeffery Lee, siblings, Shirley Jones, Ed Hershel (Catherine) and Hebert (Bennie Jewel) Davis, niece, Sherry Davis Scott, nephews, Val, Tim, and Ricky Jones, great nephew, Derwin (Dee) and cousin Reuben Douglass.

Linda will forever be in our hearts, and her quiet spirit will be missed. Saying goodbye is a hard thing to do and seems final. Fortunately for believers, we are not limited to these final words. We have the wonderful blessing of being able to say "see you Later". We'll hold onto cherished memories. Today in our loss, our hurt and pain, we recognize our gains in our friends and loved ones and that love continues beyond physical life.
