Mrs. Lue Allie Jones, 86, of Martin formerly of Brownsville died Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Martin Health Care. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Brownsville. Interment will follow in Rosenwald Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Lue Allie Shepard Jones was born on October 9, 1929 to the late Israel and Naomi Shepard. Lue Allie attended Haywood County Training School and Jackson State Community College. In 1948 she married James Wesley Jones, Sr. To this union three children were born: Patricia, James Wesley, Jr. and Carmen, who all preceded her in death. At an early age, Lue Allie professed a hope in Christ and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Stanton, TN. In later years, she joined First Baptist Church in Brownsville, TN and remained a faithful member until her health began to fail. Lue Allie served forty-one years as a dedicated secretary of the Agriculture Extension Service for the University of Tennessee. She was also the corresponding secretary at First Baptist Church and was later elected as church clerk, serving in this capacity for forty-three years. She was president of the Willing Worker's organization, which spearheaded a project to purchase a church van in 1980. Lue Allie was a member of the Missionary Society, teacher of the Sacred Lily Sunday School Class, a member of the Brownsville/Haywood County Arts Council, and the Haywood County Cancer Task Force Committee. She leaves to cherish her memory: three loving grandchildren, Wesley (Tess) Jones of Louisville, KY; Carmen Nichole Jones of Antioch, TN; and Adrienne Reneé Brent of Memphis, TN; a devoted son-in-law, Rev. Leroy Brent of Martin, TN; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jones of Brownsville, TN; three great-grandchildren, Tré Wesley Jones, Caden Jones and Saniah Jones; eleven nephews, four nieces, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
