Lula M. Shields was born in Union City, Tennessee, on February 10, 1942, and passed away peacefully in her hometown on May 29, 2026. A woman devoted to her family, Lula lived a life marked by love, strength, and unwavering commitment to those she held dear.

Born and raised in Union City, Lula's deep roots in the community were reflected in every aspect of her life. She held a special place in the hearts of family and friends alike; known for her warmth and the joy she found in nurturing her loved ones.

Lula is lovingly survived by her three sons, Kenneth Brown (Eva), Keith Brown and his wife Tela, and Eddie Jackson; her two daughters, Angelia Ware (Calvin), and Felecia Rooks; as well as her sister, Betty Mae Thompson. Her legacy extends through her extensive family, including eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as a host of family and friends who treasured her presence.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Pettis; father, Jessie Jackson; her sister, Genevie Lewis; and her brother, Jake Rice. Their memories remain a cherished part of Lula’s story.

A visitation will be held on June 5, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Both events will take place at McPhearson-Rawls Funeral Home in Union City, located at 1325 E Main Street.

Lula M. Shields’ life was a testament to her devotion and care for her family, embodying the values of love and strength that have left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
