Lydia Mae Calcutt was born March 8, 1934, in Wynnburg, Tennessee. She was the first-born child of thirteen children. She received Christ at a young age at Rock of Ages CME Church in Tiptonville, Tennessee. Lydia attended Lincoln High School in Tiptonville, Tennessee.

Lydia had so much love for everyone in our family and outside of it. She enjoyed going to see everyone whether they were in or out of town. When there were storms, when her God was doing his work, she would gather us, her children, in one room and tell us stories about when we would get grown how good our lives would be. Sad to say, but we looked forward to the storms and being together hearing our mother paint pictures we would never forget.

Lydia enjoyed family, no matter what; she would always welcome you back with open arms to her home and feed them her good soul food while playing her favorite song, “My Last Two Dollars”. She also enjoyed to the fullest playing spades. She would take everything in stride with a smile. Her heart was so full of love, she would give any of her family members a roof over their head if they needed one.

Lydia leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Sharon (James) Kinney and Pearl Calcutt, both of Union City, TN; one son, Michael Calcutt, of Union City, TN; four grandchildren: Yolanda Calcutt of Snellville, Georgia, Craig McManus of Lexington, KY, Ronald Ward, II and Elexius Benford, both of Union City, TN; nine great grandchildren; three brothers: Earnest Charles of Gary, ID, Elmer Ray and Willie Carl, both of Cleveland, OH; three sisters: Evon (Mark) Miller of Cleveland, Beverly Wyatt of Dyersburg, TN and Regina Mays of Paducah, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Calcutt; her parents, OCCIE B. and L.C. Fryerson; one child, Marilyn Calcutt; two grandsons: Perry Calcutt and Willie Russell Hagler, Jr.; five brothers: Henry, Herbert, Sammie Russell, Mack and Riley Fryerson; two sisters: Ocie Avery and Pearlie Fryerson.
