Mary Louise Avent

Mrs. Mary Louise Avent, 90, of South Fulton died Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at AHC Union City.

Services will be held at noon on Saturday, February 11, 2023, in Rawls Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Louise Avent was born June 11, 1932, to the late Rufus Henry & Maude Lee (Rucker) Jeffries of Grand Junction, TN.

Mary is the Mother of 13 children of whom currently 7 remain. Mary moved to Chicago, IL for several years before moving back to South Fulton, TN where she resided until her homegoing. She was an excellent cook at the Whistlin Pig of Fulton, KY where she retired. She accepted our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Cayce, KY with Reverend Albert Brown many years ago. Mary was a very loving Mother, Friend, Confidant & Matriarch of our family. She always had a smile for you and loved people. She was kind, compassionate, fun & loved the LORD. She loved life and her family and friends. She will truly be missed and her legacy lives on through all those who love her. Her eternal flame has been ignited never to be distinguished.

She is survived by her children: from eldest to youngest: Dorothy (Charles) Randolph of Milwaukee, WI; Percy (Jeanette) Avent of South Fulton, TN; Robert Avent of Chandler, Arizona, John Avent (Avis Brooks) of South Fulton, TN; Bobby Avent of Chandler, Arizona, Joey (Frauke) Avent of Lexington, SC and Dwan (Jeff} Vinson of Martin, TN. One Sister: Corinne Jeffries of Kankakee, IL. One Brother: Lawrence Jefferson of Chicago, IL & several beloved Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren & Great, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband: John Avent Sr. of So. Fulton, TN; her lifelong special partner: Bernard Ben Gregory of Gary, IN; Five daughters: Rose Marie, Anna Marie, Jwan Jwanetta, & Kathryn Ann Avent & Thelma Louise Avent (Wakefield) ; One Son: Willie James Avent of Mayfield, KY. Two Granddaugthers: Cynthia Ann Avent of Kankakee, IL; Marnya Latisha Randolph of Milwaukee, WI; One Brother: James Jeffries of Chicago, IL; One Sister: Juanita Hussey of Union City, TN & her parents: Rufus Henry Jeffries and Maude Lee (Rucker) Jeffries of Grand Junction, TN.
