Mrs. Mary Ann Milan, 89, of Martin died Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 15, 2024, at Miles Chapel Church.
Mary Ann was born on May 18, 1935, to Kenneth and Justine Milan in Gleason, Tennessee. Mary Ann grew up in Gleason with her sisters, Barbara and Luretta, brothers, Gary and Ronald. She attended Gibbs Street Elementary School, Webb High School in McKenzie, and later Weakley County Training School in Martin. She met and married Richard Harry Caton to which two daughters, Deborah Elaine and Rose Maria were born.
Mary Ann was a homemaker and for many years worked with Tom Dodd Antiques in Chicago from 1963 until relocating to Martin in 1970 where she continued to work with Tom Dodd at his Ivandale Antiques shop until its closing in 1982.
Mary Ann was a LOYAL and DEDICATED member of Miles Chapel CME Church and served as a choir member for many years while caring for her mother Justine in her final years.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Justine and her husband, Richard.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Willie) Thomas and Ma ria Dawson, sisters; Barbara Davis and Loretta Jones both of Martin, brothers; Gary (Marie) Milan of Chicago, IL and Ronald (Mona) Gibbs of Stockton, California, grandchildren; Joe (Tammy) Dawson Jr. of Springfield, Massachusetts, Jason (Rika) Dawson of San Bernardino, California, Lawanda (Derrick) Harris of Pasadena, Maryland, Elliott Thomas of Honolulu, and Martin Thomas of Corona, California. She is survived by great-grandchildren, Trinity, Lexi, Cam, and Kend rick Dawson, Madison and Micheal Harris. Mary Ann is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and very special friends; Robert and Susan Nunley.
