Mayfield "Boy" Wright, Jr.

Mayfield “Boy” Wright,Jr., 69, of Union City died Saturday, February 05, 2011, at his residence. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Greater Victory Freewill Baptist Church with Elder Stan Kenton officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church. Pallbearers will be Earnest Lee Todd, Perry Douglas, Jamie Jones, Donnie Taylor, Kevin Jones, Johnny Lee Jones, Deon Jones, Kelly Scales and Kevin Horton. He was born March 26, 1941, in Obion County, son of the late Annie May (Mayberry) and Mayfield “Buck” Wright Sr. He had retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and had also been employed at the 700 Service Station or Hornsby’s Garage. He was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and attended McDowell AME Church. Survivors include his daughter, Carline Wright of Union City; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Darshetah Jones of Union City; six stepdaughters and his son-in-law, Tina and Rodney Davis of Martin, Cassandra Newberry of Humboldt and Gwen Polk, Danita Polk and Mary Polk and Sonja Amos, all of Union City; three stepsons, Daniel Coleman, Kenny Coleman and Rodrick Polk, all of Union City; his sister, Annie Branch of Union City; and 22 grandchildren.
