Mrs. Melba Elaine Johnson, 55, of Union City died Sunday, August 09, 2015, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Miracle Temple Church of God In Christ in South Bend, IN. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Melba Elaine Johnson was born September 26, 1959, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Louis and Anna Mae Gooden. Mrs. Johnson confessed a belief in Christ at an early age. She later united with Greater Bethel Church of GOD in Christ under the leadership of Elder Richard Johnson. Melba completed her early education at LaSalle High school in South Bend, Indiana. She was employed at Memorial Hospital for several years. Melba was joined in holy matrimony to David Lee Johnson. To this union they had one child. Melba leaves to cherish her memory: her children LaShon (Trina) and Chantell Williams of Jackson, Mississippi, David Johnson of Union City, Tennessee; one brother Larry (Shelia) Gooden of Indianapolis, Indiana; three sisters Diane (Silas) Winters of Phoenix, Arizona, Evelyn Henry and Pamela Alligood, Saint Louis, Missouri; two aunts Dorothy Granger of Chicago, Illinois, Betty Jean Perry of Saint Louis, Missouri; one Great Aunt, Irene White of South Bend, Indiana. She leaves three grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Anna Mae Gooden, maternal grandparents, Betty Lou and George Goins, paternal grandmother, Inez Rogers, and one brother Louis Gooden, Jr. Rawls Funeral Home – Union City 731-885-8110
