Michael A.W. Jones

Mr. Michael Anthony Wayne Jones, 33, of Memphis formerly of Paris died October 4, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel with Vernon Anthony Tharpe officiating. He was born October 13, 1978, from Alton, Ill., he was a son of Michael Jones of Charlotte, N.C. and Sandra D. Tharpe of Bartlett. His first two years of education was in Alton. He lived with his great-grandmother for four to six years in Illinois, before moving to Springville with his grandmother and great-grandmother and then to Paris with his mother and a sibling, all in 1985. He attended schools in Paris and Charlotte. Jones was a 1996 graduate of McKlenburg High School in Charlotte. He attended college at Winston State College in Winston-Salem, N.C. While living in Henry County in 1997, he worked for Dollar Tree and later with Atlantic Homes. He worked for the post office in Charlotte, while living there in 1998. He also lived in Wichita, Kan., Memphis and Houston. A family member said he loved to sing, draw and be around his friends and family. Besides his parents, he leaves four siblings: Marcus McClennan of Paris, Mario Jones and Nycole Jones, both of Charlotte, N.C., and Juaniqua McClennan of Bartlett; eight aunts and uncles: Bernita (Hoza) Hutcherson of Paris, Steven (Sonja) Tharpe of Springville, Anthony Jones of Alton, Greg (Carmen) Jones of Sparta, Ill., Kenneth (DeDe) Tharpe of St. Charles, Mo., Vernon A. (Yolanda) Tharpe of Fairview Heights, Ill., Beverly (Larry) Wright of Covington, Ky., DeAnna Jones of Pennsylvania and a special cousin: Allacia Martin. Rawls Funeral Home – Paris 731-642-1515
