Mr. Michael Sneed, 67, of Union City died Friday, February 20, 2026, at his home.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Michael Gene Sneed was born July 15, 1958, in South Fulton, TN, to Rufus and Lucille Blockett Sneed. 

“Sonny” as he was lovingly called by family and friends, alike, was baptized at the legacy Brooks Chapel in Fulton, KY.

Michael was the youngest of nine siblings including the youngest of the 5 male children. He thrived in sports. He lettered in football and basketball at his alma mater South Fulton High where he graduated in 1977. Michael had a great spirit and a smile that would light up any room. His energy and his true essence were experienced by many through his larger-than-life personality. Tragedy struck him early in life, but he persevered through his many health challenges and lived a full life. He continued to show his devotion and support to his loved ones.

Michael was a grilled master. He loved to barbecue and enjoyed hosting family and friends. His face would light up when he was complimented on how good everything tasted as he loved to jokingly boast about his “skills”.

His lasting legacy was that he made it a priority to call his nephews and nieces to check in. Even after it became difficult for him to see the family group text or family birthday calendar, he still remembered to call on birthdays. Even as he dealt with his own physical limitations, he took time to check on close friends when he knew they were dealing with health issues.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents Charlie and Katie Sneed; parents Rufus and Lucille Blockett Sneed, brothers James and Charles Edward Sneed.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his children Chantelle Atkins Barbour (Robert), Louisville, KY, Quintin Sneed, Mayfield, KY, Jamari Sneed and Kimiyah Sneed (both of Union City, TN), and stepdaughter Carla Davison, Mayfield, KY; siblings Ruthie Barnett, Robert Sneed (Juliette), Sylvia Daniels, Perry Sneed (Sue), Darline Cross, Patricia Wiley (Philip) and James Patton (Stephanie); son-in-law Robert Barbour and his only grandchild Mason Barbour; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
