Mrs. Mozell Thompson Cavitt, 97, of Memphis formerly of Martin died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Graceland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Miles Chapel Church. Interment will follow in Parham Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Mozell Thompson Cavitt was born on March 11, 1919 in Dresden Tennessee to Bell Thompson and Minnie Mae(Ward) Thompson. She was the sixth child of eight children. All preceded her in death including her two daughters Inise Willoughby & Alice Mae Graves, and two grandsons Tyrone Thompson & Chet Graves.Mozell dedicated her life to Christ while a child in Beach Grove, Tennessee where she joined Miles Chapel C.M.E Church. She attended Weakly County Training School there.
Mozell was blessed with five children. Three of the children came from her holy union to Scott Cavitt.Mozell worked as a domestic and in the Hamper Factory. She was a devoted mother who loved to cook. She lived in Martin , but left to live with her son Vernon and daughter in-law Sylvia in Memphis Tennessee for over twenty years.Mozell was very particular about her appearance. Every morning she would put on her make up and jewelry even if she didn’t have anywhere to go. She continued doing this even at the awesome age of 97.She leaves to cherish her memory: three children: Jack (Betty) Thompson, James (Gladys) Cavitt, Vernon (Sylvia) Cavitt Sr.; 14Grandchildren: 22Great Grand-children and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
