Mrs. Peggy June Payne-Searcy, 80, of Paris died Monday, October 16, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J.C. Webb, Jr. officiating. Inerment will follow in Western Oak Grove Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.Ms. Peggy June Payne-Searcy was born March 15, 1937 to the late Charlie L. Payne and Mattie B. Vandyke in the Oak Grove community. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Western Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Buchanan, Tennessee. She journeyed to Chicago where she joined the Mt. Calvary Church under the ministry of Rev. Ivey. She returned to Paris, Tennessee and reunited with Western Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary and president of the choir for many years. She was employed with Salant & Salant of Paris and Plumley Excursion for twenty-four years. She retired in April 2003. Peggy loved retirement, watching soap operas, and people. She leaves to cherish her memories three sons: Michael (Sarah) Searcy, Mickey Searcy both of Chicago, IL, and Rickey (Lynda) Searcy of Paris, TN; sister: Mattie Rebecca (Edward) Sullivan; brother: Paul (Vernesser) Payne, a host of grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one great great grandchild. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death three siblings, Bobby Payne, Betty Mae Payne Mayo Taylor and William “Bill” Payne.
