Mrs. Peggy Lee (Edwards) Willoughby, 69, of St. Louis formerly of Weakley County died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Christian Hospital in St. Louis.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. James CME Church in Dresden with Rev. Dr. H. T. Conner, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Mrs. Peggy Lee Edwards Willoughby was born February 26, 1944. An order was given and God appointed an angel to bring her home on June 8, 2013.
Peggy Lee was one of fifteen children born to the late Aaron and Mollie Edwards. Along with her parents, she was preceded by seven brothers and two sisters in death.
Peggy Lee accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. James Church. She attended the Weakley County Training School and Turner Ward as a youth.
On April 9, 1960, Peggy Lee married the late Cleantrice Lewis Willoughby, Sr. and to this union a daughter and a son were born. Peggy Lee loved singing, cooking, fishing and dancing. She loved her family and was always known for helping others.
She worked at the Missouri Athletic Club for nineteen years, after which she relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois. There she joined and became an active and dedicated choir member of the Summit Avenue Baptist Church. Peggy Lee then attended the East St. Louis Community College where she obtained an Associates Degree in Business and in 2010 retired from Missouri Athletic Club.
Peggy Lee leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Sophia Willoughby and one son, Cleantrice L. Willoughby, Jr., both of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren,
Breonna, Ambriel, Jaylin and Trell, all of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters, Jo Jean (Robert) Gardner of Warner Robins, Georgia, Jacqueline Edwards of Dresden,
Tennessee and Gail (Arthur) Bosah of Martin, Tennessee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
