Mrs. Peggy Ruth Wilson, 78, of Paris died Friday, September 11, 2026.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.
Peggy Ruth Wilson was born on February 17, 1948, in Henry County, Tennessee, to the late R.L. Hutcherson and Surena Dunlap-Hutcherson.
Peggy was raised in Paris, Tennessee, where she received her education through the Henry County School System. As a young woman, she later relocated to Chicago, Illinois, and eventually made her way to Detroit, Michigan. It was there that she met Clemon Wilson, whom she later married on March 10, 1995. Together, they shared a blended and loving family of ten children.
Peggy and Clemon eventually returned home to Tennessee, where she continued her career in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Caring for others came naturally to Peggy, and throughout her years of service, she touched the lives of countless patients, families, and coworkers. She remained dedicated to her profession until retiring from Henry County Healthcare in the early 2000s.
Following retirement, Peggy devoted much of her time to what brought her the greatest joy—her family. She especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her days were often spent tending to their after-school needs, sharing words of wisdom, teaching them valuable lessons about life, and simply enjoying their company. Many of those treasured moments were spent sitting on her front porch, surrounded by the people she loved.
Peggy never met a stranger. She had a warm and welcoming spirit and could brighten a room with her smile. Those who knew her also knew that Peggy was never afraid to speak her mind. Whether offering words of encouragement, a little wisdom, or one of her famously sharp remarks, she was always authentically Peggy. Her strong personality, humor, honesty, and love for her family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clemon Wilson; her son, Donnie Hutcherson Sr.; father-R.L. Hutcherson, Stepmom-Robbie Hutcherson and brothers-Ronnie, Johnnie, Taraza and Jackie
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her son, Lenrick Moore; her daughter, Cetonia Moore; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; brothers-O.L., Bobby, Hoza, Kenneth, William, Tony, Thomas Earl and William Owen; Sisters-Stella and Hattie and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain in our hearts forever.
