Mr. Ray Allen Smith, Sr., 56, of Union City died on Tuesday, February 23, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Visitation only will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel.

Ray Allen Smith, Sr., was born on August 4, 1965, to Terry Smith, Sr. and Rose Mae Wheeler Smith in Union City, TN.

He was a member of Mount Herman Missionary Baptist Church. He Graduated from Union City High School in 1984. While in high school he was a star baseball, football and basketball player. Ray was a diehard Pittsburg Steelers Fan.

On January 20, 1989, he was married to the former Melechia Liphford.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Mae Smith; siblings, Pauline Smith and Terry Smith, Jr .; grandparents, Milton and Elizabeth Smith , Georgia Wheeler and Clay Brown, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Melechia Smith; children, Ray (Ronica) Smith and LaKesha (Phillip) Shade; father, Terry Smith, Sr.; grandchildren, Jamal Liphford-Sanders, Beyonca Shade, Cedrion Cook, Amari Bonds, Kameron Shade, Keylen Liphford and Brayson Smith; sisters, Georgia Brown, Myra (Willie) Couch, Rosie Winters, Teresa (Craig) Bass, Paula (Rodney) Amos and Nicole (Lee) Freeman; a host of aunts and uncles; mother-in law, Jessie Liphford; three brothers in law, Carl Blackwell, Charles (Rhonda) Liphford and Sam (Phyllis) Liphford; host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
