He was one of the oldest living triplets in the state of Tennessee. R.C. served in the United States Army, and after returning home from his service, he met and married the love of his life, the lovely Avanell Stunson. To this union, five children were born: Robert, Thomasina, Zonia (Faye), Larry and Gerald.Over the years, R.C. was a minister of several Church of Christ congregations. His life was God-centered and committed to serving others, leading them to Christ. He was a loving, devoted husband and father. He also loved his extended family and friends. R.C. fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a business man by owning his own furniture store. After retiring and returning to Martin, R.C. partnered with his brothers, A.V. and Hoover, opening Nunley’s Furniture Store. The store became the meeting place for folks in town with lots of laughs and ideas flowing daily. R.C. never met a stranger and was a friend to many. His humorous demeanor made him a joy to be around. As we celebrate his homecoming, let us not be sad. R.C. is survived by his children, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Hoover, Mable and Josie, with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Avanell and siblings, Lloyd, Stafford, Robbie “Ozzie”, Arista and A.V., and his parents, R.F. and Adell Nunley.
