Rebecca Massey

Mrs. Rebecca Massey,78, of Union City died Friday, February 17, 2023, at her home.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Brown Chapel AME Church. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Wednesday at the church.

On February 18, 1944, Rebecca Tate Massey was born to the union of the late Dennis and Mamie Tate.

She was educated in the Obion County and Union City School Systems and later received certification as a Certified Nurse's Assistant, for many Obion County General Hospital later known as Baptist Memorial. There she worked in home health and also as a CNA.

She was a faithful member of Brown Chapel AME Church until failing health limited her activities.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, Melvin (Jackie) Brown and Greg Brown of Union City, TN; Regina (Bobby) Vinson, Woodland Mills, TN; Felicia (Mitchell) Churchwell; Gwyndolyn (David) Talley, her wonderful caregiver, of Union City, TN; Robert (Carolyn) Tate of Ypsilanti, MI; Loretta Tate Jackson, TN; James Ella (Shannon) Kile, Ypsilanti MI; and Angie Brown, Union City TN; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Lester Massey ; sons William and Milton Jr Brown; Eric Powell, Sr; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; siblings Dennis Jr, James Sr Tate, Carrie Massey, Mamie Lou Whitsey, Minnie Hardin, Anna Louise Martin, Mary Helen and Wilma Jean Tate.
