Mrs. Rodga Mae Wingo, 102, of Trezevant died Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Oak Manor Health Care Center.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at St. John Baptist Church in McKenzie. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Friday at the church.
The precious life of Rodga Mae Wingo began on April 13, 1909, in Carroll County, Tennessee, to Wyatt Porter Hampton and Cornelia “Cora” Tate. She had nine siblings which preceded her in death.
At an early age, she confessed in Christ, joining St. John Church. She was the eldest member.
Rodga Mae worked as a cafeteria cook at Trezevant High School for many years. She took pride in the fact that when she retired, the children told her they stopped eating at the cafeteria. She had several hobbies that she enjoyed: canning, quilting and gardening.On April 17, 1937, she married Dennis Wingo. Three children were born to this union: Dorothy, Billy and Addie Pauline. Her husband, Dennis; daughter,Addie Pauline and grandson, Dennis R. Wingo, all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her loving memories daughter, Dorothy (O. H.) Hunt of Detroit, Michigan; son, Billy (Carolyn) Wingo of Trezevant, Tennessee; son-in-law, Lonnie Bell of Trezevant, Tennessee; grandchildren, Billy and Christopher (Valerie), all of Trezevant, Tennessee, James, Gwendolyn (Leon), Rondalyn, LaDawn (Curtis) and Regina, all of Michigan, Zachary (Shanna) and Jacarla (Tyrone), all of Milan, Tennessee and Jacolyn of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Brittany(Jamal), Rodney, Ryan, Rondalyn, Ravyn, Donald Jr., Tyren, Tyree, Jamica, Leonna, Kellen and Jayla one great-great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
