Mr. Roy Lee Caldwell, 73, of Union City died Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel.
A private family service will be held.
Roy Lee Caldwell was born October 1, 1947 to Condra and Ruby (Smith) Caldwell. Roy was the last of 12 children. His other siblings: Willmer Caldwell, Robert Earl Caldwell, Arthur McIntee, Marim McIntee, James Edward Caldwell, Condra Caldwell, Jr., Irene King, Flossie Thomas, Annie Robinson and Elizabeth Caldwell have all preceded him in death.
Roy was a faithful member of Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Turner. He was excited to go to church and fellowship with his church family. Roy never missed a Sunday until the COVID virus hit and he could no longer attend. After the virus occurred, he looked forward to the visits from his Pastor.
Roy worked for Reelfoot Packing Company for 15 years until the doors were shattered. He then went to work for Jimmy Dean until his health started failing and he was forced to retire. He worked for Jimmy Dean 19 years. He lived with his brother, Willmer and sister-in-law Evelyn Caldwell for 25 years. He then moved in with his niece Janice Caldwell until God called him home.
Roy never married and had no children. He leaves behind one brother, Norman Hale Caldwell; four sistersin-law: Evelyn Caldwell, Barbara McIntee, Hazel Caldwell and Elizabeth Caldwell and a host of nieces and nephews.
