Mrs. Ruthie Nell Morris, 93, of South Fulton died Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Diversicare of Martin.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Bells Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Interment will follow Greenlea Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Ruthie Nell Morris was born April 18, 1931, in South Fulton, Tennessee to Leonard Hillard and Charlie Bell Kennedy Hillard. She was the fifth born child out of six children. Ruthie Nell married Saul Thomas Morris (S.T.) August 31,1954. To that union four children were born, three girls and one son. Ruthie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a diligent worker in her church. She served as a Stewardess, serving the table of the Lord and overseeing the fellowship hall and kitchen.
Ruthie was a graduate of Miles High School in Union City, TN. Ruthie worked for the Obion County school system as a lunchroom server, and a caregiver in many homes here in the community. She also enjoyed cooking alongside her late husband Saul (S.T.) at the Derby Restaurant and Park Terrace Restaurant. Ruthie was a special and loving mother. She instilled in her children God first, family second and to do unto others as they do unto you. Ruthie was a praying woman. She enjoyed cooking for her family and baking. She is known for her homemade chocolate pie, sweet potato pie, and hummingbird cake.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Saul Thomas Morris (S.T.) and her siblings, Rose "Bee" Johnson, Lelia Drew, Leonard "Flop" Hillard, Lovenia "Love" Williams, and Ola Hicks. Ruthie leaves behind four children; Susan (Michael) Alford, Saul (Linda) Morris, Shelia (Larry) Mathis, and Sandra Lorhorn. Six grandchildren; LaShonda Morris, Michael Alford, Marques, Aissa, and Kanesha Mathis, and Jared Lorhorn. Four great-grandchildren; Nikko and Layla Alford, Kannon Gaston, and Jalen Lorhorn. A sister-in-law; Dorthy Martin and a brother in law; Jerry (Bernice) Morris and a host of nieces and nephews.
