Samuel Seales (Sam) was born August 14, 1957, in Rayville, Louisiana. In 2007, he moved to Martin, TN and in that same year, met his love, Dorothy Thomas (Reedy). Years later, after they each had developed a greater love for God, and His will for their lives, Sam asked to be her Husband and Reedy, said, yes, to being his Wife.
Sam grew up learning from older mentors and was proud to talk about having a good work ethic; his life demonstrated that as well. Sam worked at AMCO for a short time here in Martin, TN and later became self-employed, using his God-given skills for landscaping. However, Sam did many other things and, through them all, was able to provide work for many young and older men. His love for God gave him a servant heart.
In 2017, Sam accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. Throughout the many challenges Sam faced in life, he remained devoted to God through his attendance and participation at his church: Progressive Baptist Church. He loved his church family and served his church and the community with no complaints. He was loved by all but known by many as (Toucan, Nun, and “Sam I know – a name from his family members”). These many different names show the love that Sam drew out of people.
In the beginning morning hours of September 25, 2023, Sam was called to be with the Savior he accepted and loved. Sam and Reedy were blessed to be at home together to share those final moments.
He was preceded in death by John Wilhite (father), Frances Wheeler (Mother) and Casper Seales (Brother).
He leaves many loved ones to cherish his memories: His wife and their stepchildren: Dorothy M. (Thomas) Seales (wife) and their stepchildren: Michael (Grace) Thomas, Las Vegas, NV; Connie Thomas and Lulu Carmen (Tommy) Thomas, Trenton, TN; and a host of nephews, and nieces. Three brothers and two sisters: Floyd (Clara) Seales, Houston, TX; Melvin (Doris) Wheeler, Rayville, LA; Herman (Latora) Wheeler, Monroe, LA; Doretha (David) Booker, Rayville, LA; Mary (Gerald) Fontenot, Houston, TX; and a host of nephews, and nieces. In-laws: Willie (Debra) Thomas; Doris (William) Brent; Katie (Robert) Robinson; Eddie Joe Thomas and Gail Thomas all of Martin, TN and a host of nephews and nieces.
