Mr. Shanda O. Smith, aged 47, passed away peacefully at his home in Paris on Monday, September 14, 2026.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.

Shanda O’Brien Smith was born on January 10, 1979, in Jackson, Tennessee, to the late Hugh and Della Smith. He attended Bruceton High School before deciding to enter the workforce.

Many knew Shanda as “Big Poppa Pump” or “Bar Wire Charlie,” names that reflected the unforgettable personality of a man who loved to laugh, enjoy life, and make memories with the people around him. During his younger years, Shanda was dedicated to spending time in the gym and developed a passion for wrestling. That passion even led him to wrestle in Memphis, Tennessee.

In 2003, Shanda met the love of his life, Marquita Sharece Smith. Their love continued to grow, and on February 16, 2005, they were united in marriage. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and making memories.

In 2004, Shanda began his career as a truck driver, a profession he remained dedicated to for approximately 20 years, until his health began to decline.

Shanda was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh O. Smith and Della J. Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Marquita Shareece Smith; his four sons, Cornelious J. Smith, Travion O. Smith, Donavon R. Smith, and Octavius R. Smith; his brother, Detrell (Tabitha) Smith of Lexington, Tennessee; along with other relatives, loved ones, and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.
