Shanthony Tywon Mays

Mr. Shanthony Mays, 30, of Union City died Sunday, July 30, 2023.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Saturday in McPhearson- Rawls Funeral Home Chapel.

Shanthony Tywon Mays was born on December 17, 1992 to Mary Mays and Anthony Powell. Shanthony was the baby of four children. He attended the Union City school systems.

Shanthony loved to crack jokes and be the center of attention. He loved his family and friends. His one and only son was his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Lizzie Bell; first cousins, Toddrell Bell and Shonta Elam; his brother, Anthony Dewayne Powell; sister, Brenshae Powell, and a special friend, John Duggon.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Mays of Union City, TN; father, Anthony Powell of Nashville, TN; son, Ja’Khylien Johnson of Union City, TN; sisters, Taqushia Smith and Amber Powell of Union City, TN; brothers, Chris Smith of Indianapolis, IN, Damon Gentry of Jackson, TN, Antwan Powell of Union City, TN; grandfather, Nathaniel Bell of Rockford, IL; grandmother, Imjean Johnson of Nashville, TN; aunts, Shumale Bolden of Jackson, TN, Colitha Bell of Jackson, TN, Sherry Gauldin of Nashville, TN, Michelle Bell and Kim Powell both of Rockford, IL, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family members Sharon Mitchell (mom), Gwendolyn Coble (mom), Alice Shields (aunt/mom), Bronzie Johnson, Jr. (brother), Raneeka (Devoe) Blackwell (sister & brother), Karnisha and Travonda (sisters), Kurtis (Laquisha) Houston.
