Mr. Spencer Eugene Davis, 60, of Union City died Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Greater Victory Freewill Baptist Church with Elder Darrell Turner officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Perry Douglas, Harry Hutcherson, Jerome McElrath, Gary Quinn, Gregory Reaves and Chris Ingram. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. He was born Nov. 21, 1950, in Mount Vernon, Ind., son of the late Gail and Lottie (Sykes) Davis. He was married to the former Sandra Rogers, who survives. He was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. employee. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and was a member of Jones-Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City. Survivors also include his son, Spencer Dewayne Davis of St. Louis; five daughters, DaShanda “Tammy” Davis and Shaqira “Sha-sha” Davis, both of Nashville, Angela Davis of Martin and Dorothy Davis and Qiondria Davis, both of Union City; five grandchildren, Noel Davis, Anyua Davis and NuKyiah Davis, all of Martin, and Sandrais Smith and Spencer Dewayne Davis Jr., both of Nashville; his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn Faye and Will Bowman of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers and his sister-in-law, Willie B. and Marion Davis of Georgia, James Davis of Union City and Charlie Davis of Indianapolis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
