Mr. Steven L. Cheirs, Sr.,70, of Hickman, KY died Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Steven Cheirs, Sr., also known as “Big Steve” was born on November 11, 1953, in Hickman, KY. He gave his life to Christ in early adulthood and was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for over 30 years until he retired. He continued his passion for big trucks by building CB Radios. Big Steve loved race cars and going to the races.
He was married to the late Blossie Kinney Cheirs. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Emma Cheirs.
Big Steve is survived by his sons, Steven (Shellie) Cheirs, Jr., Danny and Scottie Westbrook; daughters, Tonya Avery, Bernita Westbrook and Donna Brown; a sister Laura Alexander; grandchildren, Destin and Davin Cheirs, Donovan Gary, Lamar, Kenya and Greg Wilson, Jr., Tara Brown, Shaneice Avery and Tammerra Pierce; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousin and friends.
In addition to his immediate family, he had a special connection and will be dearly missed by his two bonus sons, Michael McClerkin and Sharron McClerkin.
Big Steve’s sarcastic sense of humor had the ability to make people laugh in every situation and his absence leaves a void that cannot be filled. His ability to bring laughter into our lives will be deeply missed.
