Sue Helen Wilkins

Mrs. Sue Helen Wilkins, 77, of Union City died Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Sue Helen Wilkins came into this world June 13, 1943, in Kenton Tennessee. She was the third child born to the union of Willie Jeff & Mary Jane Young. Sue was a loving, strong, independent, Christ-fearing woman. She loved her husband dearly and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. Sue accepted Christ at an early age, and she loved the Lord. She joined Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Union City Tennessee in 1985.

Sue married the late Nathan Herman Wilkins of Rutherford, Tennessee on March 2, 1960. To this union they had three children: Billy, Dwayne and Cindy Sue Wilkins. Sue & Nathan made their home in Union City, Tennessee. Sue was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker who loved God first and family and friends second. Sue loved her only daughter, two sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She was lovingly nicknamed: “Pretty Lady,” “Boom Boom,” “MeeMaw,” “Mom,” “Mama,” “Grandma,” “Baby Girl,” “The Queen,” “Diva,” “Honey” and “Sweetheart.”

Sue was a very strong and active member of her church. She served in her church as a Steward, Class Leader, member of the finance committee, Stewardess Board President, Member of Lula Rowsey Missionary Society and sang in the senior chorus in her early years. She was a faithful member of her church for many years.

Sue’s Legacy will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, brother, family and friends. She leaves to mourn her two sons: Billy (Angie) Wilkins of Cordova, TN, Her Baby Boy & Boss Dwayne Wilkins of Union City TN, one daughter Cindy Wilkins-Wise (Maurice) of Brownsville TN, one sister and one brother: Idell & Neugene Young of Union City TN. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by Nathan Herman Wilkins (Husband), Willie Jeff Young (Father), Mary Jane Young (Mother), UL Young (Brother), Eloise Harris (Sister), and Dorothy Faye Johnson (Sister).

The public is invited to the walk-through visitation on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Rawls Funeral Home from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM. Family and friends will gather in a Celebration of Life Graveside Service for our dearly departed immediately following the visitation at 2:00 PM at East View Cemetery in Union City, Tennessee. All attendees MUST wear masks throughout all gatherings (NO EXCEPTIONS).
