Thelma Wakefield

Ms. Thelma Wakefield, 64, of South Fulton, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at AHC Union City.

A private memorial service was held.

Thelma, also known as “Lou Lou” by her loved ones was born April 5, 1955 in Fulton, KY to John and Mary Avent both of Grand Junction, TN.

Thelma moved to Kankakee, IL for several years before moving back to South Fulton, TN where she resided until her homegoing. She accepted our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ while living in Kankakee, IL. For those that knew Thelma, she was caring, fun, compassionate and loved her family and friends. To her family and friends she was known by several nicknames: Lou, Lou Lou, Tilda/Tilla, and Broomie. She loved life and her family and friends. She will truly be missed and her legacy lives on through all those who love her. Her eternal flame has been ignited never to be distinguished.

She is survived by her only son: Shelton Eugene Avent of Honolulu, Hawaii. Her Mother: Mary Loiuse Avent of South Fulton, TN, her siblings from eldest to youngest: Dorothy (Charles) Randollph of Milwaukee, WI; Willie Avent of Mayfield, KY, Percy (Jeanette) Avent of South Fulton, TN; Robert Avent of Chandler, Arizona, John Avent (Avis Brooks) of South Fulton, Tennessee; Bobby Avent of Chandler, Arizona, Joey (Frauke) Avent of Lexington, SC and Dwan Avent (Jeffery Lynn Vinson) of Martin, Tennessee. Three Aunts: Juanita Hussey of Union City, TN; Corinne Jeffries of Kankakee, IL; Clara Kimp of Tulsa, OK. One Uncle: Lawrence Jefferson of Chicago, IL. And several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her first husband: Jerry Brown of Bolivar, TN and her second husband: Jack Wakefield of Fulton, KY. Her only daughter: Cynthia Ann Avent of Kankakee, IL her Sister: Kathryn Ann Avent of South Fulton, TN and her Father: John Avent Sr. of South Fulton, TN. Her maternal grandparents: Rufus Henry Jeffries and Maude Lee Rucker of Grand Junction, TN and her paternal grandparents: Annie B. Phinnesee and William Taft Avent both of Grand Junction, TN. A beloved niece: Marnya Latisha Randolph of Milwaukee, WI.
