Mr. Thomas L. Rogers, 83, of South Fulton died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Memphis V.A. Medical Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, graveside in Greenlea Cemetery with Rev. Cecil Maddox officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. He was born January 2, 1931 in South Fulton, TN he was the youngest child born to Bonnie Rogers and Annie Ruth Kennedy Rogers. He was the first in his family to finish high school graduating Valedictorian of his class. He continued with higher education and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Tennessee A&I State University in 1954. He also obtained his JD from Texas Southern University. In the interim he joined the Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1958. In 1965 he was blessed to marry his friend, his true companion Ida L. Little and remained married to her until he made his transition from this life. He also worked for the Chicago Public Schools teaching Science to junior high and high school students. A Criminal Law Attorney with a private practice, which he would not turn anyone away. He also served as Assistant District Attorney in Union City. He was a member of Jacksonville Lodge # 50. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Ida L. Rogers of South Fulton; a daughter, Angela Rogers of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Christopher Davis (Raquel), Charity Warren (Romell), Phanuel Davis; two great grandsons, Samuel Davis and Joshua Davis; two sisters, Marilyn Andrews (Walter) of Somerset, NJ, Ginger Clardy of South Fulton, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
