Mr. Trey Maddox, 28, of Union City died Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Trey “T Boog” Maddox was born at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL on April 2, 1993, to Eric Maddox and Shirley Carter. He spent his younger years growing up in Colorado Springs, Colorado as a military child. Upon his mother’s retirement from the United States Air Force in October 2000, the family moved to Union City where Trey grew up and spent the remainder of his life.

Trey loved sports, especially football, where he distinguished himself on the field. He received several awards in his successful high school football career and was part of the defensive line that won the 2009 14A State Championship. He had the heart of a champion; though he was small, he played like he was much bigger and always gave 110% effort every time he went out on the field. Not only did he excel in football, he excelled in the classroom as well. He achieved Top Ten of his class all four years of high school and graduated with High Honors.

After high school, Trey completed a few years of college at UT Chattanooga and UT Martin. He also worked at the Union City Boys and Girls Club, Walmart, Lenny’s at Reed Brothers and Another Thyme Catering where he gained the respect of all he met. Upon his death, he was employed at Titan Tires. Trey was a hard worker and put his best foot forward in all he did. He had a heart of gold and a loving soul. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know him was touched by his laughter and infectious smile. Whatever the situation, you could count on Trey with a shoulder to lean on and an encouraging word. Trey was a likable person and never met a stranger. He loved to have a good time, loved his music, and he loved to dress. His family, friends and all who knew him will miss him beyond measure.

Trey leaves to mourn his daughter Oaklynn Monroe Maddox of Union City, TN, parents Eric Maddox and Shirley Carter of Union City, TN, siblings Matthew and Kelli Maddox of Garland, TX, his grandparents Ardell (Mary) Maddox and Martha Slayton of Union City, TN, his uncles Terrance (Pam) Maddox of Garland, TX, Reginald Maddox of Tiptonville, TN, Willie (Deborah) Slayton, Jr. of Ramstein, Germany, aunt Doris (William) Samuels of Union City, TN, uncle Bobby (Aunita) Barton of Marietta, GA and aunt Martha Pettigrew of Plano, TX, his special friend Dana Northam, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Trey was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Willie Slayton, his uncles Bobby Slayton , Jerry Slayton , and Loyal Johnson Jr “Jackie Maddox”.
