Mr. Vander Scott, Jr., 70, of Martin died Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.  Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Martin Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Parham Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Vander Scott, Jr. was born March 31, 1946 in Memphis, TN to the late Vander Scott Sr. and Laura Douglas.  He was a Marine and received a purple heart in the Vietnam War. Later he joined the Army National Guard ranked as an E7.  He also retired from Goodyear in 2006.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles.  He was an amazing man, one of few words but a very big heart.  Always ready to lend a helping hand. In 1971 Vander Jr and Ernestine were joined together in marriage. Vander was proceeded in death by his father, Vander Scott Sr.; mother, Laura Douglas; step-mother, Lucille Scott; son, Kenneth Windham; brother, James C. Scott; sisters, Lula B. Scott, Jerlean Scott and Virginia Scott. He leaves to cherish is memory his wife, Ernestine Scott; four children, Lori Scott, LeTonia Watson, Paul Windham and Keith Scott; four grandchildren, LaKesha Fox, Regan Harris, Talia Mc Daniel, and Elijah Windham; sisters and brothers, Lula Evans (Payton), Willie Nelson Scott (Minetta), George Scott Sr, Hattie Hankerson, Randy Scott (Jackie), Robert Scott (Brenda) Pomonia Thompson (Stanley), Bobby Joe Scott (Angie), Walter Scott (Kim), Rose Arnold, Lou Pearson, and Dorothy Garmon (Richard) and a host of nieces and nephew.   Rawls Funeral Home - Union City 731-885-8110
