Vaughn was born on May 29, 1953, to the late James Roland and Pearl Bass-Westmoreland. He is one of five children. He is preceded in death by his brother, John Westmoreland, sisters, Jittaun Westmoreland-Savage, and Ina Brown.

Vaughn was baptized at an early age and attended the Bashon Baptist Church, and the AME Methodist Church in Rives, Tennessee.  He became a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a faithful member on February 5, 2017. The Church Members embraced him with kindness, and he loved the congregation and was willing to serve in any area of ministries as needed.

Vaughn graduated from Obion County Central High School and played basketball.  After graduation he became employed with a Construction Company and was known as “a jack of all trades”.  He enjoyed doing lawn care and took pride in his work.

Vaughn loved to cook, and he was a good cook   His specialties were pork chops, greens, fried turnips and corn bread, and of course white beans. He was very humorous and had a giving spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Vaughn is survived by his brother, Venory Westmoreland of Indianapolis, IN, Two aunts, Ms. Lena Mae DeBow of Stockton, CA, Ms. Annie Pearl Bass of Union City, Tennessee.  His favorite Sister-In-Law, Ms. Ruth Westmoreland, who he fondly called “sister-in-law”. His caretaker and favorite niece who he adored, Mrs. Tess Westmoreland McElrath.  Also, known to Vaughn as “baby girl”.   His favorite nickname for many of his family and friends. Vaughn leaves to cherish his memory a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well as life-long friends who were like family.  A special thanks to his lifelong friend Rae Ball, thank you for your genuine love and kindness.
