Velma Moore

Mrs. Velma Moore, 72, of Paris died Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Henry County Medical Center.

Visitation only will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at McPhearson-Rawls Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Velma Rose Moore was born on February 27, 1953, in Paris, Tennessee, to the late Robert Odell and Velma Earl Long. She was educated in the Henry County School System and later began her career at Dana Inc. in Paris, TN, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.

Velma accepted Christ at an early age and loved the Lord deeply. Her faith was evident in the way she lived, loved, and served. She will always be remembered as a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Velma truly loved her family and friends, and she showed that love in every way she could.

On July 4, 1998, Velma united in marriage to Terrence Wayne Moore. She cared for him with unwavering devotion through his most challenging health moments until his passing on April 5, 2021.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Earl Long, Edward Long, and Greg Long.

Velma leaves to cherish her loving memory, her brothers; Odell (Jeannie) Long, George (Faye) Long, and Louis (Ikie) Long, four sisters; Robbie Hudson, Peggy Jackson, Bettye Pratt, and Justine (Lowyless) Glasper; her son; Jeffery (Undria) Moore; stepdaughter; Paula Moore one granddaughter; Lakia Moore; one grandson; Adrian Newbill; one great grandson; Rakari Taylor, five sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, honorary nieces and nephews; Necy Long, Eric Long, Corey Long, and special friend Janice Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever love and remember her.

Velma’s life was one of quiet strength, faith, and compassion. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
