Virginia Inez Tharpe

Mrs. Virginia Inez Tharpe,78, of Springville died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Henry County Medical Center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral Home. She was born May 8, 1932, in Springville, the daughter of the late Milton and Mattie E. Hudson Travis. Her husband, Larnell Tharpe, preceded her in death. She was a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, trustee and assistant Sunday school superintendent. She also was a member of the Sister to Sister Club, where she was chaplain. She leaves two daughters: Bernita (Hoza) Hutcherson of Paris and Sandra Tharpe of Memphis; three sons: Steve (Sonya) Tharpe of Springville, Kenneth (Dea-Dra) Tharpe of St. Charles, Mo., and Vernon (Yolanda) Tharpe of Swansea, Ill.; One sister-in-law, Mary Ailene Tharpe of Springville; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
