Mrs. Vonetta Turner, 71, of Union City died Monday, April 6, 2015, at Baptist Health in Paducah.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be at Shiloh Baptist Church on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
She was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Obion County, daughter of the late Earlie Kinzer and Winnie Mae (Wade) Williams. She was married to Thomas Edward Turner Sr. Aug. 13, 1959. He survives. Mrs. Turner was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was a founder of the Meals on Wheels program. She was also a member of the Community Serving Club and the Obion River District Association. She served as a choir member, an usher, a member of the missionary society and youth director at her church. She was also an active member and one of the founding members of the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and her son-in-law, Pamela Barber, Regina Turner and Bridgette and Edward Turner, all of Union City; three sons and her daughters-in-law, Perry and Jana Turner of Hickman, Ky., and Jonathan and Angie Turner and Reginald Turner, both of Union City; her god daughter and her husband, Annett and Evangel Trice of Martin; her brother, Charlie Turner of Union City; her sister-in-law, Shirley Turner of Union City; her stepsister, Brenda Ingram of Union City; 26 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Edward Turner Jr.; two brothers, the Revs. LeRoy Batey and Charles Dodson; her sister, Hiawatha Taylor; and two infant siblings.
