Mr. W.D. "Dub" Pirtle, 76, of Union City died Friday, November 15, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.
Mr. W. D. “Dub” Pirtle was born in Moscow, Kentucky, on October 10, 1943. His parents were Gus Henry Pirtle and Susie Lee Haynes. Mr. Pirtle attended the former Miles High School in Union City, Tennessee, and was a student-athlete. He played both basketball and baseball. On December 5, 1966, he married Corine Crumble; the two had five children.
Mr. Pirtle was well-known in the community. He was affectionately called “Dub” by his family and close friends. He worked at Reelfoot Packing Company for thirty years. Afterwards, he worked at Superior Fireplace Company, which later became Lennox Hearth Products. He worked at Lennox until he retired. After retirement, Mr. Pirtle started a lawn care service, which he kept going, most recently with his nephew, Dee, until September 2019. He also greatly enjoyed hunting and detailing cars.
Mr. Pirtle was a dedicated family man and a caring, loving father. He worked hard to provide for his family and to help anyone he could. He leaves to cherish his memory his lifetime love and companion, Corine Crumble Pirtle; his children, Mattie Floyd (Charlie Floyd), Carolyn Pirtle, Bernard Pirtle (Tracy Lynn Pirtle), Willie Pirtle, Ralph Winters (Beth Winters) and Benita Pirtle; his sisters, Geneva Crumble, Alma Pirtle, Angela Anderson (Kevin Anderson) and Carolyn Harris; his brother, Felix Pirtle; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of other family and community friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus Henry Pirtle and Susie Lee Haynes; his uncle, Hosea Pirtle; his brother, Donnell Pirtle; his sisters, Joyce Dysart, Alice Faye Davis, Lillie Mae Barton and Tammy Greer; his nephews, Felix Jackson and Jerry Johnson; his niece,

and his daughter,
Alice Denise “Dee Dee” Pirtle
