Mr. William Arthur “Bill” Lee, 59, of San Bernardino, CA formerly of Fulton died Friday, April 18, 2014.Services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at St. Paul AME Church with Rev. Leroy Brent officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
William Arthur Lee was born to Mr. and Mrs. Percy Lee on June 1, 1954. He was the fourth of six children. Bill always held a special place in the Lee Family. He was the doer, the gogetter and the loving, caring one. He was affectionately called by his father, Papa.
Bill attended Milton and Carr Elementary Schools and graduated from Fulton High School. He graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree. While at Murray State, he played football. He was an outstanding player. Bill’s high school jersey number was 62and his college jersey was 60.
After graduation, Bill was hired by TVA in Knoxville, Tennessee where he worked several years. He decided to go West and worked for Kasler Construction Company of Los Angeles, California, again for several years and then he and his best friend, Otis Clopton, decided to venture out and start their own construction company with another friend by the name of James. The name of this company was OJB Construction of San Bernardino, California. Bill worked until he retired.
Bill loved the Lord, his family, friends and everybody he met. He loved his Church, St. Paul AME, and would do anything to help, financially or physical labor around the Church or Parsonage. Bill loved to fly his airplane and ride his motorcycle. He ran in marathons, travel the world, loved to ski and scuba dive. Bill was a Certified Physical Fitness Trainer and Aerobic-Zoomba Instructor. He loved music and played the guitar, drums, violin, keyboard and saxophone.
“We could go on and on but Bill’s actions spoke louder than the words written on this program. It is not when you were born of when you die but what you did between the dash.”
Bill is survived by his son, Christian; father, Mr. Percy Lee; uncle, Mr. Jimmie Joe Kelso (Mary Lou); aunt, Evelyn Kelso; brothers, Perry (Brenda), Percy C. (Helen) and Kent D. (Kathy); sisters, Enid M. (NL), Joyce K. and Rosalind B. (Alvin) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Lillian Ray Kelso Lee; brother, Melvin Lee and two special brothers-in-law, Staff Sergeant James H. Gordon and Dr. Samuel M. Weeks.
