As a young child he attended Lake Chapel Church. He also attended school in the Lower Bottoms. In his lifetime he was a truck driver, auto mechanic, and a farmer. He worked on farms in the bottoms of Hickman and the fields of Raymondville,Texas He was also known as the mechanic who made his own auto parts such as using thread to tied down and seal oil pan gaskets and also using pieces of wood and sometimes a car jack for motor mounts. He loved cars whether he was working on them or racing them. He could spend hours arguing which company built the best automobile/truck always thinking Ford was the best. William was a straight forward person did not bite his tongue and spoke bluntly. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking especially bar-b-queing. He loved music and liked to dance letting us know he still could hang with the best of us. He loved spending time outside and his friends would drive by reving engines and blowing horns. He spent some of his last days in his driveway until his illness kept him inside. He was legendary, better known to us all as the “Honky Tonk Man.” He was a father, brother, an uncle to many and a friend to all. In his travels between Kentucky and Missouri he met a special person whom led him to reside in Kansas City. He was there for 15 years. After the death of his sister, Loretta he wanted to return to his hometown, Hickman Ky. Preceding him in death were brothers, Johnl Mitchell and Millard Mitchell; sisters, Loretta Ramsey and Julie Mitchell and children, William T. Mitchell, Jr., Timothy Mitchell and Dana Mitchell. Cherishing his memories are his significant other, Tammy L, Davis of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters, Hattie Murphy, Willie Mae Smith (Morris) and Betty Lee Mays (Arthur) of Hickman, Kentucky and brother, Roosevelt Mitchell of Hickman, Kentucky.
