Mr. Willie B. Hurt, 53, of Union City died Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church.
He is survived by Maybelline Hurt, his loving wife.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, four sons, Willie A. Hurt of Union City, Tennessee, Shon Cox and wife Jackie Cox of Arlington, Texas, Joshua Cox and wife Jasmine Cox of Union City, Tennessee and Terrance Hurt of Union City, Tennessee and one daughter, Raquel Hurt of Union City, Tennessee.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, James Cox, Jamira Cox and Micah Cox; step grandchildren, Jaden Pettigrew, Sabra Pettigrew, Brooklyn Coleman, Shelby Dickens, Hailey Dickens, Jalen Clark and Emma lou Aguero. He is also remembered by his sister, Alice Hurt of Union City, Tennessee and his brother, Timothy Hurt and his children of Missouri. He also has four cousins, Mae Ruby and Billy Cox of Tiptonville, Tennessee, Minnie Ann Alexandra of Hickman, Kentucky, Mae Frances Barnett of Union City, Tennessee and Mary Alexandra of Union City, Tennessee and three sisters-in law, Mattie Lee McKinney of Union City, Tennessee, Velma Annette Hughes of Tiptonville, Tennessee and Linda Martin of Humboldt, Tennessee. He is also loved by his cousins and friends. He had a special friend that’s like a sister, Sherry Martin of Martin, Tennessee.
He is predeceased in death by his father, Willie B. Waterfield and his mother, Ivy May Hurt.
He was born in Hickman, Kentucky on March 6, 1961. He moved to Union City, Tennessee in 1980. He went to school here in Union City. He worked at Union City Health Care for four years then went to work at Tyson Foods and worked there for five years. Thereafter, he became disabled. He was a member of Right Path Ministries where he worked as a faithful member. He was on the Usher Board. This was one thing he really loved to do in the church.
